Our History

The roots of Didier Pharma GmbH trace back to 1684, when pharmacist David Ataler founded the first pharmacy in Gifhorn, under the splendid privilege granted by King George I of England (see also Gifhorn Local History Museum, dated September 5, 1714). The Didier family’s involvement in the pharmaceutical industry spans generations, with pharmacist Fritz Didier’s nephew, John Daniel Didier, being the fifth generation in the line. In 2014, John Daniel Didier renamed the historic “Castle Pharmacy” to Didier Pharma.

Years in Pharmacist business

The Didier Laboratory was originally established in 1945 by Pharmafrid A. Didier KG. Under the management of pharmacist Fritz Didier Jr., it transitioned into a family-owned GmbH. This new operational structure, initiated with the transfer of shares to Fritz Didier Jr., has been in place since November 30, 1971.

Didier Pharma’s manufacturing program has historically included a wide range of products, from pharmaceuticals to cosmetics and nutritional supplements. These products were distributed both in-house and under license, with notable exports such as the anti-rheumatic drug RH 50 in Belgium through Bomo, and in Austria through licensee Kwizda. The company also produced the well-known Biofrid cosmetic line, including the popular eye tonic Biofrid, and the bestselling garlic pearls Didier, which were later incorporated into the Kwai product line.

In early 2014, Didier Pharma GmbH relocated to Hövelhof, continuing its long-standing focus on health-related products, particularly nutritional supplements. That same year, Didier Pharma registered its first trademark, “Divita,” and later setup Alphacap pharmaceutical manufacture company.
